<p>Welcome back. I hope everyone had a relaxing and restorative week. It is hard to believe we are in week 9 already. Time flies. This week, you will explore visualization and digital objects. Besides the assigned readings, I would like you to explore this blog post by Jeremy Huggett on 'Digital Twins' found here: <a href="https://introspectivedigitalarchaeology.com/2023/06/27/digital-twins/">https://introspectivedigitalarchaeology.com/2023/06/27/digital-twins/</a>. Huggart notes, "The idea of a ‘digital twin’ carries connotations of a replica, a duplicate, a facsimile, the digital equivalent of a material entity, and conveniently summons up the impression of a virtual exact copy of something that exists in the real world." I argue that we cannot create a digital twin of a material object because the digital is an individual artifact in its own right. Do you agree?</p>
<p>This week's exercise of locating and documenting a digital object builds on the concepts from week seven about data and data analysis. In other words, how you document your digital object will influence your research outcomes and conclusions. Consider how the Obsidian graph view is affected by the metadata choices you make when inputting identifiers into the properties section of your digital object.</p>
<p>A note on the weekly exercise. For those of you who cannot find a digital object on Sketchfab related to your research topic, you may scour the internet to find a digitized/digital representation of an artifact related to your topic. If you are having difficulties finding a digitized object, please reach out for help.</p>
<h3 id="weekly-reflections"><a aria-hidden="true" tabindex="-1" href="#weekly-reflections"><span class="icon icon-link"></span></a>Weekly Reflections.</h3>
<p>Some of you have not submitted your weekly reflections for weeks 6 or 7. Please do so as soon as possible. Remember, though they may not be graded, they are taken into account when marking your consolidation/memex reflection (which is coming up soon).</p>

<p>Next week is your second consolidation week. Thus ends module two. See <a href="/Crafting%20Digital%20History/2.%20Schedule/Module%202%20Wrangling%20&#x26;%20Critiquing/Week%2010" title="Week 10">Week 10</a> for details on the week's expectations. This is another reminder to update your notes, reflect on past notes, and play around with the digital tools we have explored or ones you intend to explore for your research topic.
